Local traits and universalism. Zachęta in Lublin and other cities
Piotr Kosiewski
In 2008 it is four years since the establishment of the “Znaki czasu” (Signs of the time) program by the Ministry of Culture. It was one of the major ideas of Waldemar Dąbrowski who was the head of the ministry at that time. “Sztuka cenniejsza niż złoto” – a foretaste of the collection from the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw
Karolina Zychowicz
It is in 2014 that the opening of new premises of the museum should take place. Founders of the institution mean the building to be the pride of our country; it shall be what the Pompidou Centre is for Paris, or the Tate Modern for London. Poland needs such an institution: a place shaping interest in the visual arts. By that time, a permanent collection should have emerged as a result of regular purchases. Podlasie Collection as a reflection of recently created art
Paulina Zarębska
Collection of contemporary art which is being gathered by PSEFA to some extent mirrors what used to and what is currently happening in art after 2000. For the most part, it includes works of young artists who completed their art education at the end of 1990’s and their debuts occurred already at the beginning of the year 2000. Some of them were winners of Spojrzenia awards, or received Polityka’s Passport awards (Maciej Kurak, Robert Kuśmirowski, Joanna Rajkowska). We can read about majority of them in art magazines and their projects are presented at art exhibitions in Poland and abroad.

Shortcut to reality. About the collection of Zachęta in Łódź
Marta Ryczkowska
The Łódź collection is composed of works belonging to the canon of Polish art created on the eve of 21 c. We may clearly observe the process of departing from the material aspect of painting and sculpture to the benefit of transitory nature of new media. It is visible owing to the skilful combination of works bordering on classical techniques and those belonging to the areas of photography, installations and videos. Vitality of the art of painting is ensured by its direct influence on the viewer, which results in scarce painting-related projects which focus on critical review of the medium, inspecting whether it fits in to the present times.
